Swiss Universities Championship (SUC) 2024

October 6-12, 2024
Somo, Spain

The Swiss Universities Championship (SUC) of surfing goes into the fourth round! In the week from the 6th to the 12th of October 2024, students from all over Switzerland will compete in Somo, Northern Spain, to earn campus bragging rights. But it's really about more than competition: Join us for a week full of surf culture, meeting great people, and having a blast together!

The competition is held together with the Swiss Surfing Championships (SSC) by Swiss Surfing, so there will be plenty other surfers of all ages and backgrounds. We encourage every student to participate regardless of their surfing level. The only requirement is that you accept the Swiss Surfing Competition Rules, i.e. are able to find your way in a lineup. Other than that, all you gotta bring is a surf board and lots of stoke!

Registration

The registration deadline is October 4th, 23:59. We recommend to register earlier to organize your financial support (see section below).

To take part in the SUC you have to be

  • currently enrolled at a Swiss university (or completed your degree less than a year ago)
  • a resident of Switzerland (citizenship not necessary)
  • an active member of Swiss Surfing (find out more below)

To register for the championships, use the form below or this website (Liveheats account required). You’ll sign up for the regular SSC and register for the SUC by choosing the Student bracket. You also have to be an active member of Swiss Surfing and report your User-ID:

  1. If you already have an active membership, head over to your Swiss Surfing account to find your User-ID.

  2. If you don't have a membership, use "SUC2024" as your User-ID in the form to complete registration. Then, order your membership as follows:

    1. As a member of the ASC, you can get the Swiss Surfing membership at a reduced price of 35.- here.
    2. Non-members get their membership directly from Swiss Surfing.

Without an active membership, you won’t be able to take part in the competition!

Competition Format

The number of heats and rounds depend on the number of participants. Qualifications are generally embedded in the regular championships, such that you’ll compete with non-students as well and can simultaneously compete for the title as Swiss Champion. The most successful students then go on to face-off in separate finals. The more participants, the more final rounds.

Financial Support

As a representative of your university, you are typically entitled to financial support. Here you can find a collection of links providing further information for each campus (work in progress). If your university is not listed, please reach out to us (find contact details below) or to your university sport organization to find out more. Some organizations require notice before the competition, so better be early.

Transport

Depending on the number of participants, we might be able to organize a shared means of transport. Join this WhatsApp group to stay up to date and to connect with other participants.
